The Civic Society has become increasingly concerned about the generally deteriorating condition of much of the pedestrian pavement throughout the town centre. The many cracked and broken paving slabs and kerbstones, with rough and ready patching and insensitive infilling in many places, constitute a serious eyesore that detracts from the unique architectural and environmental qualities of Stamford’s historic centre.
A document, entitled “Paving the Way” has been produced and can be downloaded here. A presentation was made to representatives from the Highways Department at Lincolnshire County Council, and it is hoped that they will be scheduling repair works in the not too distant future.
