2012 Chairman's report

AGM 2012

Welcome to the combined Stamford Civic Society AGM and Party evening.

This is going to be very short, as you are going to have to put up with me talking in about half an hour’s time at the party.

However, I would like to thank Orlando for his help and support and extend the same thanks to all the committee members who, as usual have all helped enormously. I want in particular to thank two people; first Peter Stevens, who is cutting down the amount of work he is doing for the Society, though he will be continuing to harangue LCC on the state of Stamford’s pavements, and second, Gil Williams, who has been responsible for the newsletter for the last 4-5 years. The next one will be her last, and if anyone is interested in taking it over from her, please talk to her about what is involved, and if you are still interested, please let me know.

We had a good year; Gil’s talk in November on Jewellery was fascinating and the varied talks at the Arts Centre went well and were well attended. The Easter coffee morning at St. Leonard’s Priory managed to avoid the rain, even though it was in April and was a great success. Unfortunately, we did not get the numbers to be able to make the trip to Bourne practicable, but we did do the trip to Southwell Minster. I will mention out plans for next year at the party.

Thanks to all of you for attending, and once the rest of the AGM is over, I hope you all enjoy the party.
