Changing Transport in the Georgian Era and its Impact on Stamford
The Society mounted an exhibition for the 2019 Georgian Festival. This page contains the banners used for that exhibition.
The Georgian era lasted for nearly 125 years. During that time, new transport technologies and changing fashions had a huge impact on what it was like to live and work in Stamford. This exhibition traces changes to the town’s streets, buildings, trade and leisure to answer the question:
Just how did changing transport change Stamford?
The drawings at the bottom of the banners were provided by pupils from three local schools – Malcolm Sargent school (carriages and coaches), St Gilbert’s school (buildings) and Stamford Junior School (people and animals.)
