Reviewing our finances

The Society was extremely pleased to receive a very generous donation of £1,900 towards the project to replace four of the bronze information plaques located around the town and with this donation we were able to contribute a total of £2,158. In addition the donation also allowed the Society to reclaim a larger amount under Gift Aid.

We also provided £1,457 for the new information board in St Michael’s Churchyard, and the completion of the project to make improvements to the graveyard and surroundings was a huge achievement for the Urban Group.

The Society also contributed £260 towards the cost of new lighting on the Albert Bridge.

The programme of talks and visits was again much enjoyed, and well supported. We received generous donations at the very successful summer event at St. Leonard’s Priory in July.

The Society’s  finances remain strong, with adequate reserves in hand.

Many people contribute time, effort and skills to help the Civic Society. We would especially like to thank:

All the members of Stamford Urban Group, who have over the years made huge improvements to the townscape, for the benefit of all.

Anabel Morris - for her help in running our events and providing the catering for the summer party at St Leonard’s Priory.

David Goodinson of Browne’s Hospital, who always ensures that the Common Room is well arranged for our meetings and provides a glorious fire in the Winter.

The United Reformed Church - for accommodation for our Committee meetings in the Church meeting rooms.
